The West Bergholt ‘allotmenteers‘ showed how to grow money for local causes as they raised £4,087 last year. Their charity stall will be hoping to raise even more in 2019 when local causes benefitting will include:

Trees for Years 2019Colchester Borough Council is giving residents and groups who’d like to green-up their gardens a helping hand, with its annual ‘Trees for Years’ giveaway on Saturday, 2 February. Farm, Food & People“Farm, Food & People” is Stuart Gough’s topic at the next Gardeners’ Association meeting on 15th October. Stuart is from The Oak Tree Low Carbon Farm which is a Community Supported Agricultural (CSA) Scheme. The Environment & Highways Sub-Committee of West Bergholt Parish Council met on 19th July and discussed bus shelter & cherry trees at Orpen Hall, ponds, eco survey, allotments, handymen, street furniture, the Heath and other items also raised.
Open Gardens 2018The Open Gardens 2018 event is on 1st July with over 20 gardens (see below) and the allotments being open from 11 am to 5.30 pm. Some gardens and the church halls will be selling refreshments and there will be local artists exhibiting. Allotments announce 2018 beneficiaries of charity tableAt their recent meeting, the Allotment Committee discussed a range of issues including who should be the 2018 beneficiaries of sales from their charity table. Last year they raised well over £4,000, over twice the previous year’s result, and would love to see even more this year.
