Crafts

This is a new page for those groups enjoying craft work such as knitting, embroidery etc… If you are in a group which enjoys such activities why not send details in to the webmaster to include them here.  Our starter for ten is a Young Embroiderers Group

Young Embroiderers craft groupColne & Colchester Young Embroiderers Group

Teaching and promoting textile design and creative embroidery, the group is open to boys and girls aged 8 to 14. The group meets once a  month at St Mary’s Church Hall from 10am until 12.30. Jill Carter leads the group with support from volunteers. All of the team are members of the Embroiderers’ Guild and are DBS checked.

The group supplies all ideas and necessary materials but children should bring their own scissors and needles (for health and safety reasons). Each session includes a small project and covers different embroidery techniques; over time young embroiderers will develop a wide knowledge and interest in textile design.

The safety of the children  is paramount.  The Embroiderers’ Guild  have a child protection policy to ensure we take all reasonable steps to ensure the safekeeping of children during our meetings.

Fees & Benefits

Fees are  £10 pa (and £8 pa for subsequent family members), to become a Member of the Embroiderers Guild.  Each meeting then costs £5 per meeting to cover venue and additional costs.
