How to Grow Money
The West Bergholt ‘allotmenteers‘ showed how to grow money for local causes as they raised £4,087 last year. Their charity stall will be hoping to raise even more in 2019 when local causes benefitting will include:
- Children’s Playground,
- Village Fete,
- Five “T’s” Fellowship.
The stall is now open pretty much all year round so make a point of looking out for what’s available,
2018 Beneficiaries were:
- Tom Bowdidge Foundation – £1,000,
- Essex & Herts Air Ambulance – £1,000,
- Heathlands Primary School – £650,
- Five “T’s” Fellowship – £650,
- Village Fete – £150,
- Alexandra Hopkins (attending world scout jamboree) – £100.
The balance will support fund generation in 2019.
Other things to look forward to in 2019
Allotments are looking at other possible projects such as:
- Scarecrow competition (do you remember last years?),
- Sunflower competition.
… these are early in development, watch this space.
Committee Changes
After many years, Harry Stone has stepped down as the secretary but remains on the committee; he was presented with a wine selection in appreciation of his service. Norma Smith takes over the secretarial reins, whilst Terry Claydon was re-elected as Chairperson.
