St Mary’s Update – 4th April 2017
St Mary’s Church update for 4th April provides listings of services, bible readings and other events and news such as the Good Friday and other Easter events, IGNITE! Youth Service and the Alpha Course.
Don’t forget, the church is now open on weekdays if you would like a quiet space to reflect or say a prayer for someone.
Good Friday – 14th April
Walk of Witness
We will be following the cross through Colchester Town Centre in a silent Walk of Witness. As we walk we will be praying for peace in our town.
Meet in Essex Street (off Headgate), at 11.45am to start to walk through the town at 12 noon, finishing in Lion Walk.
Mercury Theatre
Hope & Reconciliation is the theme of this event on 14th April, starting at 7.30pm. Guest Speaker Rev Dr Russ Parker will address seeking God’s blessing for Colchester and Cantus Firmus.
Messy Church
Messy Church becomes Messy Easter on Sunday 9th April at 9.30am. April’s theme is Easter. Hope you can join us!
Maundy Thursday Fellowship Meal

Alpha Course
We are running the Alpha Course for 10 weeks starting on 25 April at 7.45pm in the church hall. Alpha is a series of informal sessions exploring the Christian faith, including a hot meal. All are welcome to come along. For catering purposes, please let Liz Dixon know if you are interested in taking part.
Decorating the church for Easter
This kicks off at 9.45am on Saturday 15th April. We are a bit short of helpers this year so if you can help decorate the church you would be very welcome (no experience necessary!). Please contact [antibot mailto=”[email protected]”].
IGNITE! Youth Celebration Service – Friday 21 April 7.45pm, St Mary’s, West Bergholt
The first IGNITE service in January was such a success that the young people have asked for another one! This will be held on Friday 21 April at 7.45pm at St Mary’s, West Bergholt. There will be music from the band, a sketch, reflections, interactive prayer stations, a short talk and hot chocolate! For more details, please contact [antibot mailto=”[email protected]”].
