A Giant Advent Calendar for West Bergholt

West Bergholt as a Giant Advent Calendar?

St Mary’s Church wants to turn the village into a giant Advent Calendar; do you want to be involved?  In other news, do you fancy sitting on the bench?

To celebrate Christmas and what it means to our community, we would like to turn West Bergholt into a giant advent calendar!  The idea is to use 24 windows around the village with 1 new window being revealed each day. Each window will tell part of the Christmas story.  You can look for a new window each day or save a few and do a trail!

Would you like your house or shop to be part of the village advent calendar? You can use an upstairs or downstairs window providing it is visible to people passing by.

Please contact us at [email protected] by midday 27th November. We will contact you on the 28th with your window’s date and theme.

The advent trail will also feature an art competition with a winner and prize for each age group. More details of this and maps of the trail to follow…..

Thank you! From St Mary’s Church

Lord-Lieutenant of Essex - Mrs. Jennifer TolhurstIs Sitting on the Magistrates Bench for You?

The Lord-Lieutenant of Essex, Mrs. Jennifer Tolhurst has asked for volunteers:

Have you ever thought of becoming a magistrate? If you are between 18 and 65 you could apply to train for this vital role in the justice system and give back to your Community.

Magistrates are unpaid volunteers who use their everyday skills to deal with real social issues and make life-changing decisions. Many employers recognise the benefit of allowing employees the time off to do this valuable work partly because of the skills learned which impact favourably in the workplace.”
