Zoom to the Quiz for St Mary’s

St Mary’s are rightly proud of the work their Families Worker undertakes (see article below about recognition from CBC), but
they need to continue to raise funds to support the service.Zoom Quiz Night  Their next fundraiser is a Family Quiz Night taking place by Zoom at 6 pm on Saturday 28th November.

Teams will be per household but for those living on their own there will be a chance to buddy up with a partner online.  To receive the Zoom Link to the Quiz evening, please email [email protected].  The suggested donation is £10 per household. Details of how to donate will be given on the night.

Community Recognition Award

I am delighted to announce that your organisation has been nominated for a Colchester Borough Council Community Recognition Award for the support you provided to local families in need, during the October Half Term holidays.

Scam Alerts

There are a couple doing the rounds at the moment, both arrive by email, one asks for the money and the other offers you some back.  In both cases the first alarm should be – would they really have your email address?  The second is that they ask you to click a link which could, quite literally, take you anywhere.  Always be suspicious.  You can view examples of two such scams below:

Colchester Budget SurveyColchester Budget Survey

Colchester Borough Council is asking residents to help them understand what matters most.  They are running a survey for four-weeks (closing on 4 December 2020) as they work to close their budget gap.

The online survey will help the council understand where residents across the borough think money should be spent and saved ahead of agreeing the budget next January for 2021/2022.

Parish Council Agenda

The Parish Council meets next week on 25th November, all villagers are welcome to attend via Zoom.  As well as routine business topics to be covered include:

  • COVID-19 update,
  • Updates from local Police Community Support & Borough Councillors,
  • Five planning applications,
  • West Bergholt Parish Council Environmental Strategic Plan,
  • West Bergholt Parish Council Equality Policy,
  • Council Action Plan, and
  • MUGA.

Road Closure

A small section of Fordham Road (?) will be closed from 9th December for 3 days.  Anglian Water will connect a new water supply and so the closure is required for safety reasons.
