Day 15 of Lockdown
Day 15 and after two weeks of lockdown it almost seems like the new normal! But, things keep changing. First, there was no recycling, then there was and, the good news, there will be again tomorrow but read on. Also, there were no council meetings but, watch this space! And, again, a little light relief at the end.
Recycling
Colchester Skip Hire (CSH) were very appreciative of residents respectful behaviour during the recycling collection last Wednesday. Accordingly, they have arranged to collect again tomorrow at the same sites. The Dustcarts will park at the following locations in the village where residents can bring their bags to the vehicle:
- 2.00 pm – Maltings Park Road.
- 2.15 pm – Albany Road junction Chapel Road.
- 2.30 pm – Mumford Road junction Chapel Road.
- 2.45 pm – Valley Crescent junction Chapel Lane.
- 3.00 pm – Queens Head Public House – car park.
- 3.15 pm – Mumford Road junction Lexden Road.
- 3.30 pm – Orpen Memorial Hall – car park.
- 3.45 pm – Hall Road junction Old Church Lane.
(Times are approximate).
Please follow these guidelines once more:
- observe the 2m social distancing guidelines at all times.
- do not bring large or bulky items, just what you would have put out for the normal Council collections, i.e paper, card, glass, plastic & tins.
- place all items in clear plastic bags and limit this to 2 mixed bags per household that you can comfortably lift and carry.
- be prepared to queue, but with 2m spacing as you would in a supermarket.
- do not dump bags at the 8 sites in advance of the dust carts arriving, although you may leave them once the CSH drivers say you can.
- try to avoid driving unless absolutely necessary, if you must then please use the Orpen Hall car park site, but again do not leave your bags there early.
There will be volunteers at each site, wearing high-viz tabards to ensure these rules are followed. Thank you for your responsible approach to this kind offer from CSH last week, let’s hope this week it runs even smoother.
Parish Council Meetings go Remote
Courtesy of new legislation introduced by the government, it is now legal for councils to run ‘remote’ meetings. The Parish Council is about to trial a video meeting and if all runs smoothly they will be able to resume regular meetings. As always, members of the public will be able to attend so keep your eyes open for more information.
