Day 14 of Lockdown – The “I gotta wash my hands” Edition

Day 14 of Lockdown

Day 14 brings 3 snippets of news and a musical interlude to round it off.  Two come from Essex County Council, one for small businesses, the other welfare-related.  The final one is from Essex Police for all of us.

Essex COVID-19 Business Support Service

ECC Support for BusinessECC has put a dedicated team in place to support businesses through the challenges they are facing due to the Coronavirus crisis. The COVID-19 ECC Business Support team will:

  • help to answer questions,
  • signpost employers, employees and business owners to  appropriate information, resources and organisations

… with the aim of helping to resolve any issues they have as best as they can.

The team can be contacted by email and now also on social media, via the following:

You can read more about this service in their Press Release.  They make it clear that their services are designed to complement the government’s initiatives.

Essex Welfare ServiceEssex Welfare Service

In response to the Coronavirus crisis, Essex Welfare Service has been set up to support the most vulnerable in our community.  they will co-ordinate requests and referrals for support from those without the support of family, friends or neighbours and connect them to volunteers who want to do their bit at this exceptional time of need.

Essex Fraud Alert – Smishing/Phishing

Esex Police want to draw attention to two recent fake messages:

Fake Fraud AlertDanske Bank WhatsApp Message

Recent messages circulating via Whatsapp, and other media, claims to be from the City of London Fraud Team.  It claims to be ‘the most advanced scam the banks have ever seen’.  This message is not from who it seems.  The information about not clicking on suspicious links is the advice that we should all be following.

Fake NHS Letter ScamFake NHS Emails

Action Fraud has received 41 reports of a scam email claiming to be from the Government asking for donations to the NHS during the COVID-19 outbreak.

This is a fake email and your money will only end up in the hands of a criminal.

The NHS will never ask you to send money directly to a bank account. If you would like to donate to the NHS do so via their official channels or your local NHS Trust.

Don’t click on the links or attachments in suspicious emails; never respond to messages that ask for your personal or financial details.
