The last two weekends, 21st & 28th January, saw both 1st team & reserves in action bringing  a win, a draw and two losses. Next match 4th February 2pm.

21st January Results

1st Team – Leigh Ramblers vs WBFC

The Essex County cup game was played on a cold frosty ground, but there was great support for the away team. WBFC ended up losing the game 3-1 to a well organised Leigh Ramblers team. Darren Bethell scoring the only goal for WBFC.

Reserves – FC Clacton vs WBFC

The reserves played FC Clacton away, and played some very good football against a strong FC Clacton team. They  gain another good point drawing 3 -3.

28th January Results

1st Team – WBFC vs Barnston

The 1st team played AFC Barnston in a league fixture.  The game was a one-sided game with WBFC playing some excellent football and creating some good chances. But it was Barnston who had the first really chance of the game, they hit the post midway through the first half. After that chance WBFC turned up the pressure and created some more good chances. After all the pressure WBFC scored after good play down the right wing, the ball was crossed to the back post and Bobby Bethell scored at the back post.

Half time 1-0

Second half WBFC come out again with lots of pressure and creating lots of chances. Chay Hammerton picked the ball up mid-way in the oppositions half and lobbed the keeper from 30 yards. More pressure was applied to the AFC Barnston defence, Darren Bethell put pressure on the centre back, won the ball and scored one-on-one with the goalie. Callum Gildea also scored with a near post header.

Reserves – WBFC vs Alresford

The reserves lost 4-3 and were unlucky not to win.  They put on a good display and were unlucky not to score more since they hit the crossbar 3 times and had a penalty shout turned down.

Next Weekend

The next home game is on 4th February with the 1st team playing Alresford, kick-off is 2pm, why not come along and watch?
