The 5T’s Return

Appointment of New Priest in Charge

Revd Heather Wilcox

We are delighted to announce that, subject to the appropriate DBS clearance, Revd Heather Wilcox has been appointed as Priest in Charge of West Bergholt, Great Horkesley, Little Horkesley, Langam & Boxted, Wormingford and Mount Bures.

Heather is currently Team Rector and Rural Dean for a number of parishes in Norfolk (Long Stratton and Pilgrim). She worked in nursing for 15 years prior to becoming a priest in 2008. She is married to Geraint with two grown up children, Megan and Luke, and a dog named Benji, and enjoys spending time with family, taking walks and being creative.  Heather brings 10 years experience of working with a group of rural parishes and is passionate about rural ministry.

Heather says: “I particularly love the breadth of traditions and diversity rural parishes embrace. I am looking forward to serving in these parishes and getting to know everyone and to seeing where God is leading.”

We hope that Heather will be able to join us in November, and look forward to welcoming her and her family, who will be based in the Rectory at West Bergholt. In the meantime, however, please pray for Heather and her family as they prepare to move here.

Baby & Toddler Group

We are delighted to welcome the Baby & Toddler group who will be using the church hall on Monday mornings from 6 September.

The group previously met at the Methodist Church Hall which is now no longer available.

Macmillan Coffee Morning & Afternoon

This takes place on Friday 24th September between 11 am – 4 pm in St Mary’s Church Hall. Drop in to enjoy coffee and some delicious homemade cakes whilst supporting this worthwhile cause.

We Are Macmillan Cancer Support

How it began

The first ever Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, we did it again the next year – only this time nationally. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £290 million for Macmillan.

Harvest Celebration

Harvest festival

There will be a harvest celebration service on Sunday 3rd October at 10 am, followed by a harvest lunch (either soup and a roll or a bring and share lunch). More details to follow in due course, but please pencil the date in your diaries.

Gathered Services Resume

All our services are now taking place in church, but we are continuing to Zoom the Communion Services on the first and third Sundays in the month.

You no longer have to book with the church office to attend in person, but we would be very grateful if you could continue to wear a mask whilst moving about in the church. The good news is that we can now sing hymns but the advice from the Church of England is that it would be good to sing with our masks on for the time being.

A Blessing

The Lord bless you and keep you.

The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you.

The Lord turn His face towards you and give you peace. Amen
