Bag2School Collection

Heathlands is participating in the Bag2School scheme as part of their fundraising campaign.  Bag2School is a trading name of Next Best Clothing Ltd, the largest textile collection company working with schools in the UK. Founded in 1999, they have now paid over £36 million to schools, nurseries, playgroups, pre-school groups and churches which is helping the Circular Economy.  So, if you want to help Heathlands with their collection please fill a bag with your unwanted clothing and drop if off at Heathlands School before 9 am on (not before) 28th September.

What Can You Put in the Bag?

Good Quality, clean:

  • Men’s, Ladies’ and Children’s clothing
  • Paired shoes (tied together or elastic band around)
  • Handbags
  • Hats
  • Bags
  • Scarves and ties
  • Jewellery
  • Lingerie
  • Socks
  • Belts
  • Soft toys
  • Household linen
  • Household curtains
  • Household towels
  • Household bedding (bed sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers)

Essex Honours – Nominate a COVID-19 Hero

COVID-19 has been hard on everyone. It separated loved ones and left many feeling isolated and alone. Arguably the worst affected were those who struggle to look after themselves and are forced to shield, owing to serious medical conditions.  Honours are usually published in the New Year, and on the Queen’s official birthday in June. However, the honours list was delayed this year until the autumn to allow nominations to be made to reflect those involved with work during the emergency.  If you know somebody worthy then read on below to see how to nominate them:

Mental Health Training

The Essex Association of Local Councils is offering a free course to help those concerned about this topic. CONID-19 has affected the mental health of many and this training will help you to:

  • recognise the symptoms,
  • give guidance, and
  • support, signpost and generally help others.

The sessions will run between 9 am and 2 pm and can be booked by contacting [email protected].  She will provide resources and instructions on how to download the free Microsoft Teams application, if you don’t already have it.
