Slim pickings in terms of news on day 57, just 2 items and one of those is incomplete.  A little bit of trivia to start with. Heinz has always been known for its 57 varieties but even when it was first introduced in 19th Century Pittsburgh they had more than 60; Henry J Heinz simply thought 57 was a lucky number.  Of course, Heinz now has over 5,700 varieties, read more here.  The news:

Day 17 of Lockdown – The “Let’s Not Waste It” Edition

Day 17 of Lockdown and apparently the curve is beginning to flatten but, we aren’t out of the woods yet.  Hence our slightly macabre focal image today.

With a sunny ‘holiday weekend’ ahead we really can’t take a holiday from the lockdown although please do go outside your house this evening at 8 pm to clap for those who are supporting our society right now.

There is also one update from ECC and some, possibly slightly worrying, news from the Essex Resilience Forum.  We will finish with some lightening of the mood looking at some things that have got better.

Day 11 of Lockdown – The Sunshine Edition

Day 11 of Lockdown

On Day 11 of lockdown, we think about the 2 nurses, both mothers of 3, who died today.  Being on the front line, along with many in often-considered lowly jobs (posties, shop workers, dustmen etc…), we rightly thanked them last night at 8 pm and it was good to hear more noise this week than last!
