Planning and Development Committee Meeting
Meeting held on Monday 17thJuly 2023 at 7.30pm in the John Lampon Hall
It is the aim of the Parish Council to seek a high standard of design for all new developments and extensions in the Village.
The Parish Council will take into account the Village Design Statement, the West Bergholt Neighbourhood Plan, Government National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and CBC Planning Policies when commenting on individual applications.

Cllr Cullis was elected as Vice Chair of the Planning Committee.
Actions: The planning committee would like to meet with Simon Cairns to discuss general planning matters, and in particular the issues raised regarding the Fish and Chip Shop planning application 210787, at 87 Colchester Road, West Bergholt, CO6 3JU and planning application 230596 Scarletts Quality Plants, Nayland Road, West Bergholt Colchester.
4. Public participation and to receive any pre-application representations.
One member of the public brought to the attention of the committee the number of advertising boards and banners in the village. He had observed that some of the banners had been in situ for over a year, and permanent banners appear to be on the increase. He highlighted the “Do not park here” banners, “Coffee”, “Fish & Chips”, and “Burger” banners, and a “Keep Fit” banner at The Orpen Hall.
Action: Assistant Clerk Julie Gillott will investigate the rulings and policies from planning enforcement regarding banners and advertising.
5. To discuss the land at Fairfields Farm, Fordham Road, Wormingford CO6 3AQ, alleged breach.
