It is the aim of the Parish Council to seek a high standard of design for all new developments and extensions in the Village.

Detached front garage 182080 Observation Decision The Parish Council has concerns that the application does not respect DG7, DG12 and DG35 of the Colchester Borough Council-adopted West Bergholt Village Design Statement.

DG7 – Buildings must be in harmony with the surroundings in respect of materials, colour, texture, proportion and scale.

DG12 – New development should respect existing building lines of adjacent properties.

DG35 – New parking directly in front of property should be avoided.

Demolition of existing (modern) lean-to extension and reconstruction of this element as a new oak-framed and glazed link structure. Incorporating new conservation roof lights to the existing staircase area.
