If You Enjoy a Read – Read This!

Read this if you want to keep your mobile library

In light of declining users, and an ageing fleet, Essex County Council are reviewing the future of mobile libraries.  The mobile library is well used in West Bergholt by young and old alike.  If you want to keep your mobile library make sure you respond to their consultation.

Thoughtless Parking at Poor’s Land

Notice of Access required

Notice of Access against thoughtless parkersThoughtless Parking at Poor’s Land

Affecting children at Heathlands, Bergholt Heath YFC and the general public at large, thoughtless parking at the Poor’s Land Gate is a problem.  The Parish Council contracts with Countrywide to maintain this land; last week they tried to gain access on 3 occasions but were unable to do so.

Without maintenance the land may cease to be fit for purpose depriving our youth and fellow villagers of a much-loved facility.

No Excuse

With ample parking available at Orpen Hall & Church car parks, all just a short walk, there really is no excuse.

Parking Issues

This is just the latest in a series of parking concerns over the past year or so.  Remember you can help address this by reporting parking, even speeding, issues using Trygve.  This app (iOS or Android), allows you to take a picture, record the location and record details of incidents which are then reviewed.  There is an active group  you can join and see what others are reporting – West Bergholt Road Violations.

Following their final summer visit, to Frinton on Sea’s “Cottage, Garden and Railway Museum” adjacent to the railway crossing gates as you enter Frinton:

Once occupied by the keepers of Frinton’s iconic railway gates, today Frinton’s Crossing Cottage houses an impressive selection of artefacts and archive material that tell the story of the local area in surprising detail. Situated in a well-maintained cottage garden, the grounds also include a wildlife area and information board.  In 2009, the railway signal box was moved into the Garden and became another exhibit housing a snapshot of railway technology in a bygone age.

Car Boot Trail – The Results Are In

Car Boot Trail – The Results Are In

Last Sunday, 16th July, saw a great village event with car boots open for business at over 40 homes.  This was great news for the Tom Bowdidge Foundation and Heathlands PTA; they will get to share the £262.13 raised to date.

The organisers, Laura, Eve, Vicky & Susan would like to thank all those who made voluntary donations from their sales. They are also very grateful for the notes and cards they received telling them how much you enjoyed the event regardless of how much was sold.

If you have any last minutes donations they will still be welcomed; drop them off at 76, 80 or 81 Chapel Road.
