BHYFC Results 17th September

BHYFC - Bergholt HeathBergholt Heath YFC – Results 17th September

The four matches on 17th September produced 2 wins and 2 losses.  Many thanks to the players and families who attended the annual BBQ on Sunday.  Despite the weather trying its best to spoil the occasion it turned out a resounding success.  Next week sees 2 home and 2 away matches.

Players wanted

The Under 13’s football team are looking for experienced players (Year 7 or 8 from September 17) to strengthen their team.  We are a small Chartered Standard Club committed to ensuring players develop their own individual skills and also their ability to work as part of a team in a well-organized and friendly environment. Our training sessions are held every Saturday morning on the Poors Field, West Bergholt.

Wivenhoe Town Reds vs BHYFC Under 13s

This week Bergholt travelled to Wivenhoe to play Wivenhoe Town Reds at the Maple Trees Stadium.  The Bergholt manager was hoping that playing on the main pitch in front of the stands would inspire the team into a performance of a similar standard to the previous week.

The opening exchanges of the first half were fairly even although the visitors did have a number of opportunities to break the deadlock but failed to take their chances, finding the ‘keeper rather than the back of the net with nearly all efforts.

As the half wore on they were made to rue these chances when two mistakes cost them dear and they went into half-time two goals to the bad.  HT 0-2.

And then the screw turned

The second half saw the hosts turn the screw and they netted again soon after the break.  At 3-0 down Bergholt then gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Freddie’s run and cross down the right was superbly met by Oscar in the centre who volleyed the ball home with his unfavoured right foot.

Rather than push on, Bergholt went back into their shells and unfortunately conceded another three, with the last goal causing an injury to goalkeeper James and so back-up ‘keeper Thomas donned the gloves. and he had cause to make one good save and act as sweeper in his 15 minutes in goal.

Late Fight Back

Despite the large goal difference Bergholt did not give up hope and capitulate.  With some excellent play, particularly down the left with Toby, Bergholt were still causing Wivenhoe problems and were able to get another two back.  The first was a sublime chip from Oscar on the edge of the box and the second coming from a shot by Toby which was parried out by the Wivenhoe ‘keeper with Nicholas on hand to slide in at the far post to slot home; very brave as it was at the risk of getting hit by the post somewhere very painful!

Unfortunately this fightback came too late and the hosts came away victorious.  FT 3-6.

Despite the result, the Bergholt manager still had cause to be pleased with certain parts of the game; some pockets of good passing, an excellent full debut from Toby and a couple of crackers from Oscar.  However, a number of the Wivenhoe goals were most definitely avoidable and these will be discussed at the next training session…..

BHYFC Under 11s vs Cornard

The under 11’s are adjusting well to the rigours of 9-a-side football and the off side rule! A number of new boys added to the squad over the summer have settled in.  Thye look as if they will make a big contribution to the team over the course of the season.

A impressive display on Sunday at home against Cornard saw the boys secure back to back victories. A number of boys shared the goals, but notably the best was saved until last.  Charlie Parsons in goal, one of our new boys, started a slick counter attacking move and Josh Juniper finished it off hitting a screamer into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Well done to all the boys on another strong team performance. Fingers crossed that our good start to the season continues.

Halsted vs BHYFC Under 9s

Were away against Halstead. After last weeks disappointing match the team put in a much better performance. They came away runners-up with Alex getting the team’s goal direct from a corner.

BHYFC Under 7s vs Colchester Villa

The 7s were once again involved in a frenetic match this time at home against Col Villa.  Again they were victorious, with Josh netting 4 and Ollie 1.
