West Bergholt’s Orpen Hall/Daniel Lorkin Field boasts excellent facilities, now including a brand-new external Accessible Toilet catering for all. The toilet is designed with ramps and accessible features, and it even provides baby changing facilities for added convenience. Visitors can access the toilet during daylight hours.
Hub of Activity
The field is a hub of activity, frequently used by West Bergholt Football Teams with their enthusiastic spectators. Fitness Instructors also conduct workouts and bootcamps here, promoting a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, other onsite amenities, such as Tennis Courts, Children’s Play area, and Zip Line, offer other active opportunities.
The Neighbourhood Action Plan identified the Accessible Toilet as part of ongoing refurbishment and improvement efforts at the Orpen Hall Complex. This plan also recently saw upgrades to solar panels. Enovert Community Trust, an environmental body, granted the Parish Council funds, through the Landfill Communities Fund, to allocate for the Social Club & External Toilets. Further financial support came from unspent S106 monies (contributions from developers), with the Parish Council covering just over 10% of the overall cost.
Official Opening
The official opening of the Accessible Toilet took place on a rainy summer day at the end of July. The ceremony was led by WBPC Chair, Brian Butcher, and Chair of Finance, Andrew Savage, marking a significant milestone for the community.
