This weekend sees the beginning of Christmassy activities in West Bergholt.  Ranging from a sale of church contents, to choirs, from mulled wine and Hollyberry Fayre, there should be something for everybody.  These are all listed below in date order:

30th November – 2 events

Church furniture and contents sale

The Methodist Chapel has been closed for worship for some while now and the church are holding a sale of the remaining furniture and contents. The Chapel will be open from 10.00 to 11.30 for viewing and offers. Why not call in and take a look and then pop into our Hall for coffee and a mince pie afterwards.

Coffee & Mince TartChristmas Coffee Morning

The Methodist Church welcome to our special Christmas Coffee morning in the Methodist Church Hall, Chapel Lane from 10.00 to 12.00. There will be coffee and mince pies for just £1 plus a range of stalls, homemade cakes, books, jigsaws, Christmas cards/wrap, bric-a-brac etc.

Pop-up Choir Rehearsals Start

Rehearsals start at 10.45 am in St Mary’s Church and all are welcome—no audition required!  For Revd. Mandy’s Christmas message and other church news, read here.

Christmas presentsGift and Parade Service

The Methodist Church are looking forward to welcoming all the village Uniformed organisations on Sunday, December 1st at 11.00 am in the Methodist Church Hall, Chapel Lane. The service will be lead by our Minister, Rev. Ken Chalmers.

As usual, we are inviting gifts of toiletries etc for the three local charities, Beacon House, Night Shelter and Next Chapter (formerly Women’s Refuge). It will help us if gifts are marked lady, gentleman or child so we can direct them to the most appropriate charity.

All family and friends are welcome to join us for this special early Christmas service. Come and join the celebration and sing some carols!

Mulled wineMulled Wine & Mince Pies in Old Church

If you want to see how the redecoration of the Old Church is going then please come & look; please dress in casual clothes that you don’t mind getting a little dusty.   The Friends will have cleaned the main areas but there is still a lot of dust around.

There will be the usual refreshments of mince pies, sausage rolls and savoury goodies, as well as coffee and soft drinks to go along with the Mulled Wine.  Also you can renew your membership of the Friends group for 2020.

6th December – Hollyberry Fayre

Sharing ChristmasOrganised by Heathlands PTA, doors open at 5 pm for this Christmassy event.  They have an evening packed with fun for the whole family;

15th December – Carol Service

St Mary’s Church.  The service will include contributions from the Guides, the school choir, the youth group and Cllr Lewis Barber. All are very welcome to join us.

20th December – 2 events

CraftsCoffee & Craft

The Methodist Church are holding a Christmas Coffee and Craft on Friday December 20th from 10.30 to 12.00 in the Methodist Church Hall, Chapel Lane. Sorry no unaccompanied children, so children please bring an adult. Usual arrangements – £2-50 per family – all welcome. Please remember that we are happy to welcome accompanied children from 0-11 years so even if you no longer go to Baby & Toddlers you are still welcome to come along to Coffee & Craft. Hope to see you there.

Carol Singing

The Methodist Church will be Carol Singing outside the Coop store in Chapel Road, West Bergholt again this year and collecting funds for Action For Children. This is on Friday December 20th from 6.15 to about 7.30. More voices are always welcome and you would be very welcome to join us. Parking is available next to the Church Hall in Chapel Lane. As usual, this will be followed by Coffee and mince pies.

24th December – 2 events

Crib Service

What can be more Christmassy than St Mary’s holding their Crib Service at 3 pm – bring the kids!

Carol Service

Taking place at 6:45 pm this again features the Christmas Pop-Up choir this year. Rehearsals start on Sun 1 Dec @ 10.45 am in the church and all are welcome—no audition required!

25th December – Communion Service

A Christmas Communion will take place at 9:30 am in St Mary’s.
