Want to Join the Band?

Founded in 1978, the Concert Band performs a number of concerts each year, all around Essex, for local charities.  They play a wide range of music from Bach to the Beach Boys and are always welcoming to new players.

On Friday 20th January there is an opportunity to join the band as they hold Open Rehearsals for Brass & Woodwind players at Heathlands Primary School:

  • Training Band (Grade 1-4) – 6pm – 7pm &
  • Concert Band (Grade 4+) – 7pm – 9pm.

If you can’t make this Friday don’t despair, future dates are already set for 5th May and 22nd September.

You have until 31st January to share your views online about proposals to create 1,085 new primary school places across five existing Colchester schools from September 2018. All five projects would involve new teaching blocks, enhanced external areas for outdoor PE and play spaces, and increased car parking.

Awards taking place on 24 May 2017. Seven award categories celebrate the unsung heroes volunteering across Essex.  They bring together communities and individuals who are working to make Essex an even greater place to live, work and visit. 

Nominate any business, charity or individual you feel deserves recognition for their volunteering efforts in our county, by filling in an online form.

  • Saturday 28th January 2pm & 7.30pm,
  • Friday 3rd February 7.30pm,
  • Saturday 4th February 2pm & 7.30pm.

The Safer Colchester Partnership (SCP) is conducting a survey to ask local residents for their views on crime and anti-social behaviour in the Borough.  The SCP produces a yearly Annual Partnership Plan which contains actions to help lessen crime and the fear of crime in Colchester.  The results from this survey will inform future priorities and actions for the Safer Colchester Partnership.
