St Mary’s Update – 1st June 2017
St Mary’s Church update for 1st June provides listings of services, bible readings and other events and news such as Christian Aid week, general election, Thy Kingdom Come and the Children’s Society.
Don’t forget, the church is now open on weekdays if you would like a quiet space to reflect or say a prayer for someone.
General Election
The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have issued a letter to help you decide whether it is worth voting next Thursday, as they say within this letter:
This election is being contested against the backdrop of deep and profound questions of identity. Opportunities to renew and reimagine our shared values as a country and a United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland only come around every few generations. We are in such a time.

Christian Aid Week – Thank You
A huge thank you to collectors and those who donated. We raised a fantastic total of £1,346.89, half of which was gift-aided!
Thy Kingdom Come Week of Prayer – 25 May – 4 June
There’s still time to get involved in Thy Kingdom Come week of prayer. Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement originally initiated by the Archbishops of Canterbury & York. It invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to know Jesus Christ. There are lots of ways you can pray individually for friends and family – see the attached for some easy to follow ideas:
