Environment & Highways Committee Minutes

Meeting held on Thursday 9th January 2025 at 4.30pm in SC Mtg Rm

Members present:	Harry Stone (HS), David Short (DS), Manya Barrow (MB), Bill Pigeon (BP) present and John Gili-Ross (JGR) by telephone.
Also present:	0 members of the public

1. Welcome & Apologies

Cllr Katie Pulford sent her apologies. Cllr Short agreed to chair the meeting.

2. Declarations of Interests

None.

3. Minutes & actions from previous meeting

The minutes of the 14th Nov 2024 were agreed by all and there were no actions carried forward.

4. Public participation

There were no members of the public present.

5. Handymen’s report:

The winter programme of work continues as usual with litter picking and general tidying. Issues of fouling in the Youth Shelter have been dealt with. The Xmas tree boxes left in the lockup need to be moved.

KP is dealing with the acquisition of new shrubs for the Armoury Road junction but changes of personnel at CCC have caused a delay. They will be planted as soon as possible. Protective posts may also be needed.

6. Ponds

Spraying is scheduled for the Spring and Autumn.

7. VE Day 80th Anniversary

A meeting with HS, DS and Julie is scheduled for 14 Jan to plan arrangements. The Beacon will be lit and pallets are needed. Details will be published in the next Bulletin.

8. 2025-26 Budget

Details have been discussed with RFO, Cllr Savage.

9. Upcoming items

The Code of Conduct and Standards consultation.

10. Date of next meeting

The next Environment Committee meeting will be on Thurs 13th Feb 2025, at 4.30pm in the SC Meeting Room.
