West Bergholt FC Results 4th February

On 4th February the club saw a win and a loss but with good performances from both teams.  Next 1st team game is away to Hatfield Peverel.  The club are also hosting a quiz night on 25th February.

1st Team – WBFC vs Alresford

WBFC had 3 call offs Saturday morning but, with a strong squad available to Anthony White the manager, they were confident of winning the game.

WBFC started the game well, some good flowing football and lots of pressure on the Alresford goal. Pat Geddis came closest to opening the scoring with a header which was matched by a good save from the Alresford keeper. With the pressure building WBFC were awarded a penalty when Dan Price was fouled in the box. Darren Bethell scored to make it 1=0. Alresford then had two good chance. Stu Reddick made a brilliant block on the line and Chay Hammerton cleared a shot of the line with a brilliant header.   HT 1-0.

Second Half

The second half saw Alresford trying to play dirty and left some very dirty tackles on the Bergholt players. This rocked Bergholt which resulted in the equaliser for the away team. Bergholt then stepped up through the gears and put more pressure on the Alresford defence.

After so many corners Bergholt Bergholt scored to make it 2-1. Then, a short time after that, Pat Geddis scored to make it 3-1.  With Alresford making so many dirty tackles the ref had enough and sent their player off after a dirty tackle on Callum.

Reserves – Dedham vs WBFC

The reserves lost 4-3 to Dedham. They found themselves 4-0 down but put in a  great fight back and were unlucky not to find the equaliser. Goals from Jimmy Chatters x2 and Darren Revie.

Fixtures 11th February

Both teams are away this weekend, 1st team playing Hatfield Peverel, kick off at 2:30.
