First Concert for 2017 Sunday 12th March

The band are well into rehearsals for our first concert of the year.  This will again be raising money for St Helena Hospice at Clacton’s West Cliff Theatre. First Responders looking to raise £8,000

The Colchester First Responders group covering West Bergholt are raising £8,000 to Buy life saving Equipment.  Each kit bag for a Community First Responder costs around £1,500 and is a small price to pay to save a life.  The more kit bags they can buy, the more Community First Responders can be out and about on call. Following the success of their last event, the coffee morning, which raised nearly £300, the Keep the Bell Ringing Appeal has now reached £7,000.  With just £3,000 to go to reach the target, the Friends of St Mary’s next venture is a Village Curry Lunch.  This will take place on Saturday 11th March in the Orpen Hall between 12:30 – 2pm.

There will be a choice of 3 curries (mild chicken, vegetable & beef madras are planned) and all the trimmings (poppadoms, mango chutney etc.)  Soft drinks, tea and coffee will be served and other, alcoholic options available to buy.  A selection of fruit-based desserts will follow.  You can pre-book shepherds pie if you are not keen on curry. Awards taking place on 24 May 2017. Seven award categories celebrate the unsung heroes volunteering across Essex.  They bring together communities and individuals who are working to make Essex an even greater place to live, work and visit.
