The recent Allotment Committee meeting minutes disclose lots of news but none as staggering as their fundraising efforts. Through their charity stall they have so far raised £4,250, nearly £2,000 more than last year! There is still time to add to the total since the stall remains open until first frost.

They are also keen to ensure that you are aware of their bonfires which are held several times a year to dispose of material that can not be recycled. First Concert for 2017 Sunday 12th March
The band are well into rehearsals for our first concert of the year. This will again be raising money for St Helena Hospice at Clacton’s West Cliff Theatre. The Colchester First Responders group covering West Bergholt are raising £8,000 to Buy life saving Equipment. Each kit bag for a Community First Responder costs around £1,500 and is a small price to pay to save a life. The more kit bags they can buy, the more Community First Responders can be out and about on call. Village Bulletin Quiz 2016 Results
Fourteen teams entered the Village Bulletin Quiz held on Saturday 8th October in the Orpen Hall. Together with a raffle and a very popular game of ‘Human Bingo‘, the event raised £336 for the Colchester branch of the Parkinson’s UK charity.
Chris Stevenson, Chairman of the Parish Council, presented the cheque at this week’s Council meeting. Will Owen, who also attended the quiz, expressed his gratitude for the donation on receiving the cheque on behalf of Parkinson’s.

The Parish Council team of Phil Spencer, Chris Stevenson, Laura Walkingshaw and Harry Stone won this year; apparently this was not a fix. 🙂
Susan Leng, quizmaster, and other organisers and Bulletin Team helpers also attended for the presentation. The Parish Council thanked the team for their hard work in running such an enjoyable evening.
New volunteer drivers are needed by the Care Network in order to continue running their local service. For thirty years now they have been helping those who are not able to get themselves to medical or other important appointments and so need support.
So the future of this valuable service can be secured new volunteers are needed. Most drivers run about 10 trips a year and are paid expenses. So, do you enjoy driving and helping others, if so why not join? Driver are asked to commit no more than they feel they can offer, just to help out when they can.

The Village Bulletin Quiz this year will be held on Saturday 8th October starting at 7pm in the Orpen Hall. Teams of four people can enter. Each team can represent a local business, organisation or club or just a group of friends. At least one member of each team must be a West Bergholt resident.
