If you have a garden to be proud of why not show it off?

It doesn’t matter whether it is small, large, tidy (or even not so tidy), if you are proud of your garden, the Gardeners Association (WBGA) would love to hear from you.

This year their Open Gardens event is taking place on Sunday 9th June. The event is always popular (nearly 1,000 visitors in 2022) & this year, its’ chosen charities are:

WBGA could really do with a few more gardens to show off this year. If you think your garden may be of interest, contact WBGA by email – [email protected] for further information.   June seems a long way off, but WBGA have to get programmes printed in advance so they would love to hear from you as soon as possible.

WBGA Activities

The Gardeners Association has a full calendar of activities throughout the year including:

  • 18th March – Maggi Piper – “The Eden Project & Lost Gardens of Heligan”
  • 15th April – Matt Tanton Brown – “Summer Colour in the Garden”
  • 20th May – Ken Crowther – “Changing Faces of Gardening, My Gardening Life” and answering gardening questions

The group also arrange visits to beautiful public and private gardens during the summer months (in 2023 these included Utling WickRHS Wisley and Blunts Hall) to offer our members something of interest all year round. Upcoming visits include:

  • 24th April – A self-drive visit to Olivers Plant Specialists near Coggeshall – a behind the scenes tour, and a visit to their Black Horse Café,
  • 13th June  – A coach trip to Hever Castle Gardens in Kent,
  • 1st August – A self-drive visit to Blunts Hall near Witham.

Their meetings are held in the Orpen Hall at 7.15 pm and the annual membership fee for 2023-2024 is £25 or £5 per visit on Speaker nights.
