Why Online?

With the recent Lockdown, it was not possible to print and distribute the Bulletin as usual but it is now available online.  If you know of somebody unable to access the online version, it will be possible to access a B&W printed copy via Vicky Beckwith-Cole (email:  [email protected]).

Christmas Recycling and Rubbish Collection Changes

Our recycling and rubbish collection days are changing slightly over the festive period. Instead of a  collection on a Friday (Christmas Day and New Year’s Day), recycling and rubbish collections will be collected on the Monday after (28 Dec and 4 Jan).

What Christmas Goodies Can You Recycle?

Here’s some simple festive recycling tips:

• Wrapping paper and cards can go in your clear paper recycling bag, unless it’s covered in glitter or metallic foil, in which case it should go in your black bin/bag.
• Turkey bones and other leftovers that can’t be reused can go into your food waste caddy. Check out lovefoodhatewaste.com  for great leftover recipes.
• Tinfoil from turkey and roast potatoes can be rinsed off and put in your tins and cans box.
• Plastic trays from party food are fully recyclable and can be put into your clear plastic recycling bag.

And Don’t Forget to Treecycle

Colchester BC is working with St Helena Hospice to bring their Tree-cycle back this year. So, if you are planning on having a real Christmas tree this year, let them recycle it for you in exchange for a donation to help local families over the festive period who are facing incurable illness and bereavement.

Free Christmas Parking

Colchester BC is offering shoppers an early Christmas present with free parking in the town during Late Night Shopping again this year.

In a change to previous Christmas parking offers, motorists wishing to take advantage of this parking offer, will need to register their free parking stay using MiPermit, a contactless parking system.

For motorists who register their parking stay in a council-owned town centre car park after 3pm on Wednesdays 9, 16 and 23 December, parking charges will be waived. Many of Colchester’s huge selection of boutique and big-name stores are opening until late on these nights.
