This edition of St Mary’s News reports on the Church’s building project, Christmas and also provides listings of services and contacts.

Prayer Weekend

Praying together is an important part of our life as a church and so we have arranged for a special prayer weekend with three opportunities to meet together to pray for our church and community:

  • Friday 1st Nov: 7.30pm—9pm—prayers by candlelight,
  • Saturday 2nd Nov: 3pm-5pm,
  • Sunday 3rd Nov: 11am-12 noon (after the morning service).

Hotel Transylvania 3 – A Monster Vacation at Half Term

The West Bergholt Film Club is showing the Sony Pictures animation Hotel Transylvania 3 – A Monster Vacation on Thursday 31st October.  Taking place in the Orpen Hall, doors open at 2:30 pm for showtime at 3 pm.

Tickets are £5.00, including:

  • hot dog, drink & ice lolly for each child, and
  • hot dog, tea/coffee & biscuit treat for adults!

The Big Bang Quiz is aimed at any 11 – 18 year-olds who would enjoy a quiz and several other activities this Friday 11th October.  All you need to do is turn up at St Mary’s Church between 7:45 pm – 9:30 pm, donations optional.  The quiz is being organised by the Wired Youth Group.

BYG started their Autumn term last night and welcome all in school years 6 -10 to join them.  The costs are only £3 for the school year plus 50p each night attended.  Activities for the rest of this term are:

Consultation Update on Playground Equipment

This consultation update follows the announcement of the SurveyMonkey questionnaire in April.

The survey carried out by the Parish Council on the proposal to upgrade and expand the range of the play equipment at the Lorkin Daniell Field produced an encouraging response from 114 interested parties.  An analysis of the responses shows overwhelming support of 93% for the project.

The Trustees of the Lorkin Daniell Field have given the results their consideration and approved the development of the project.  They will now use the responses to the questions and added helpful comments to form a more detailed plan for the project.  The detailed analysis of the responses, along with a qualitative summary of the outcomes is shown below.
