Yesterday, the latest Film Club event on 23rd November, tells the story of a struggling musician realizing he’s the only person on Earth who can remember The Beatles after waking up in an alternate timeline where they never existed.  Directed by Danny Boyle and with screenwriter Richard Curtis this film seems too good to miss!  Enjoy the trailer & synopsis of the show below.

Taking place in the Orpen Hall, doors will open at 7 pm for showtime at 7:30 pm. Refreshments will be available.

Decorating Won’t Stop Christmas Events

The Friends of St Mary’s are pleased to report that their regular Christmas events will still go ahead this year.

Songs & Tales take the place of the Origins of Surnames at the Annual Bernard Colbron Lecture on 13th November next week.  This is because, due to circumstances outside his control, Charlie Haylock is unable to deliver the lecture himself.  Charlie has instead arranged for his friend Neil Catchpole to visit us in his place.

Many Talents

Neil Catchpole last visited the History Group about 15 years ago, he is a man of many talents. He is involved with the Stour Valley Trust, the Dedham Vale Area of Natural Beauty and Clare Country Park and grew up in the area.

The Colchester Avenue of Remembrance, which opened in June 1933, was the topic for the Local History Group‘s October talk at Orpen Hall.  Their next meeting is the Bernard Colbron Memorial Lecture on 13th November when BBC’s Charlie Haylock will talk on the origins of surnames.

Hotel Transylvania 3 – A Monster Vacation at Half Term

The West Bergholt Film Club is showing the Sony Pictures animation Hotel Transylvania 3 – A Monster Vacation on Thursday 31st October.  Taking place in the Orpen Hall, doors open at 2:30 pm for showtime at 3 pm.

Tickets are £5.00, including:

  • hot dog, drink & ice lolly for each child, and
  • hot dog, tea/coffee & biscuit treat for adults!
