5.      Handymen’s report:

Seasonal maintenance work has commenced i.e. grass cutting etc. All the planned sapling installations are now completed and damaged bollards adjacent to the scout hut have been dealt with. Some minor maintenance to the truck is required prior to the upcoming MOT and will be carried out by the handymen. All salt bags have been collected from around the village and placed in store. Weed treating of Poor’s Land is in hand as is spraying of the ponds which is scheduled for June.

Issue was taken with the Co-op regarding their removal of their rubbish bins which had caused further littering in the village. A response has been received from the Co-op, and it was decided to keep the matter under review at present.

Regarding the dead tree on Poor’s Land which Cllr. Pigeon has been arranging, after significant discussion the members, felt it better to postpone the new planting until autumn as the new tree may not thrive if planted any later than the end of March.

6.      School Drive Entrance

It was decided not to intervene further in this matter and that it was up to the school to deal with the matter themselves.

7.      LD Field – Practice pitch

Four quotations for replacement of the pitch have been received and are to be considered by the council and a summary of the quotes has been prepared for circulation. Clerk and JGR to please check all details.

8.      VE Day 80 Year – Update

A meeting was held recently to progress matters, and it was agreed that a timetable for the event would be prepared. Other than that, all matters are well in hand although it appears that the event may be much bigger than originally considered in view of the large orchestra and choir. To this end it has been decided that a seating location plan would also be prepared.

9.      National Grid – Pylons

Cllr. Short has attended three Teams meetings as part of the formal public consultation which terminates on 17th. April. A final submission to the consultation has been prepared on behalf of West Bergholt which states in summary, that none of West Bergholt’s objections to the scheme had been addressed by National Grid.
