10th June 2020Colchester Grants for Businesses

Local businesses affected by COVID-19 can now apply for a new grant as part of the Government’s response to coronavirus.  Colchester’s Discretionary Business Grant scheme will distribute up to £1.7 million to local businesses.

The scheme seeks to support businesses who are unable to access the Small Business Grant or the Retail Hospitality and Leisure Grant announced in March.  Grants will be worth up to £10,000 and will be available to businesses which meet the eligibility criteria, which is available at www.colchester.gov.uk/coronavirus/businesses.

Businesses will need to apply for the grant by the Wednesday 10 June by completing an application form.

Colchester Business Survey

Colchester Borough Council are also conducting a survey to see how local businesses have been affected by COVID-19.  The information collected will help the Council and partners to plan for the future and to direct businesses to available support, advice and guidance.

COVID-19 Humour

A selection of recent(ish) jokes for you today:

  • Really wish we had a dog right now but then I remember that old slogan.. a dog is for life, not just for a global pandemic.
  • Social Distancing –  I looked into her eyes, deep into the emerald green, my heart fluttered, I felt a connection, something deeper, something magical, I was transported to another place and I thought, blimey these binoculars are brilliant.
  • In Germany, they prepared for the crisis by stocking up with sausage and cheese. That’s the Wurst Käse scenario.

And some music to lighten your mood, I loved this tune when Hawkwind released it:
