Day 5 of Lockdown

Let’s start with some good news – although we are only in Day 5 we can look forward to Day 6 being ONE HOUR SHORTER!

Don’t forget to put your clocks forward tonight.

Just two other short items today:

Houseparty & Zoom

If you are missing meeting up with friends why not set up a virtual meeting.  There are a few ways to do so but the most popular seem to be Houseparty & Zoom.

Houseparty

Houseparty can be used on most devices be they laptop, tablet or smartphone.  All you need to do then is either visit the Houseparty website or get the app from your App Store.  The service is free to use.

Zoom

Zoom, like Houseparty can be used on most devices although the experience is richer on larger format screens.  The free account allows up to 100 participants and unlimited sessions of up to 40 minutes (although they do seem to give you up to 2 extended to unlimited when you first sign up.

Can You Help The Food Banks

Are you off work during the shutdown?  Do you use basic PPE gloves & mask when you work?  If so you might be able to help a local food bank.

Some food banks are getting through as many as 50 sets a day; as you will be well aware, they are very hard to get hold of right now thanks to COVID-19!  The food banks need them to protect their volunteers and their customers who are often very vulnerable.

If you have a supply you are not likely to be using any time soon, please consider donating some.  We are thinking that those who work in personal services such as beauticians, nail technicians etc… could help – your donation would be very warmly received.  Find your nearest foodbank on the Trussell Trust website.
