Day 4 of Lockdown – the Where’s Waldo Edition

Day 4 and not as much new news although it is almost a daily ritual now to hear about recycling.  Other snippets are:

Recycling (or not)

A little bit too late to help with yesterday’s collection but CBC announced shortly after the Day 3 update that each household may now put out an additional 60-litre bag.  This is a temporary provision.  They also offered some advice about how you can help them:

Our crews are doing a great job delivering this critical service. We’re urging everyone to act responsibly to protect the health and safety of your communities, including our staff delivering this critical service, and prevent the spread of the virus through your rubbish.

As well as following all of the government guidelines, you can play your part and take action to protect our staff, their families and your communities by following these four steps:

  1. follow the advice on how to get rid of your waste if you are either self-isolating or confirmed to have Coronavirus,
  2. reduce and reuse rubbish and recycling and compost as much as possible,
  3. store recyclables where possible,
  4. follow the advice and only put the correct items out for collection at the right time.

The Essex Welfare Service

Complementing our own newly enhanced Care Network service, this service can help residents to find and access support during the COVID-19 pandemic.  If you need support with advice, daily living tasks & wellbeing, you can contact them on:

Opening hours are 8 am – 7 pm weekdays and 10 am – 2 pm weekends.

The Essex Resilience Forum

The Essex Resilience Forum Strategic Coordinating Group (SCG) was put into action to provide coordination and alignment for member services in Essex.  The SCG is chaired by Chief Constable BJ Harrington, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Rick Hylton and the Chief Executive of Essex County Council, Gavin Jones. The three Chairs rotate responsibility each week to provide resilience.

The purpose of the SCG is to:

  • Minimise the risk to the public by assisting Public Health to contain the spread of the virus and to support the contact tracing.
  • Maximise, where practicable, the safety of our staff and partners by providing advice and appropriate PPE where necessary.
  • Ensure business continuity plans are in place to enable the provision of key services and continued delivery of essential services to the public.
  • Reassure the public by supporting Public Health guidance and Public Health messages.
  • Ensure that community tension and intelligence/information is being effectively managed through the strategic co-ordinating group and existing structures.
  • Support Local Resilience Forum partner agencies and local communities to mitigate the impacts of the virus.
  • Ensure a coordinated approach to any arrivals to UK (By Air or Sea) of persons who pose a Public Health risk arising from Covid-19.
  • Promote a return to business as usual and restoration of disrupted services at the earliest opportunity.
