Joyful June

Joyful June

June has a way of lifting our spirits. The days stretch out like a cat in the sun, flowers burst into colour, and the scent of BBQs and freshly cut grass fills the air. It’s the month where nature seems to throw a garden party—and we’re all invited.

There’s something wonderfully hopeful about June. The Bible tells us:

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

A time of purpose

June feels like a time of purpose—of growth, of warmth, of reconnecting with both nature and one another.

Whether it’s a village fête, a spot of gardening, or simply a chat with a neighbour over the fence, June reminds us how good community can feel.

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1).

And if that unity involves slightly burnt sausages and overambitious attempts at DIY—so much the better.

Amid the busy beauty of this season, we’re also reminded of the deeper joys of life. As Jesus said:

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10).

Live Fully

June encourages us to live fully—to laugh more, breathe deeply, and say yes to picnics.

So, here’s to a joyful June: may your strawberries be sweet, your wellies stay dry, and your days be filled with sunshine, smiles, and a sense of God’s quiet presence in every moment.

Eco Matters—Creation Event at Chelmsford Cathedral on 17 June

A key part of our Christian Mission is caring for God’s creation. But how does our faith relate to our current environmental crisis? Are we stewards of creation or much more? What practical action can we take?

All are welcome to attend a special event on 17 June at Chelmsford Cathedral focussing on these important questions. The programme is as follows:

5.15pm—Evensong with a creation theme

6.00pm—stalls and locally produced refreshments

6.30pm—talk with guest speakers Rev Dave Bookless, Head of Theology at environmental charity A Rocha International, and Jo Herbert-James Head of Engagement at A Rocha UK.

All are welcome to attend for all or part of the programme.

Eco tip for June—Bee kind!

Bee kind
  • Plant bee friendly flowers in your garden,
  • Avoid using pesticides in your garden,
  • Place a shallow dish with fresh water outside for bees to drink from in hot weather,
  • Buy local, raw honey.

Thank you!

A huge thank you to all who supported the Christian Aid coffee morning and Big Breakfast in May. At the time of writing I don’t know the final total but I understand it will be well over £500!
