The 24th AGM of the Friends of Hillhouse Wood is on Wednesday 12th December 2018. Starting in the Orpen Hall at 7.30 pm, refreshments will be served from 7.00 pm. The Friends will welcome members and non-members alike. The draft agenda is as follows:
Glorious Weather for Autumn Fruits WalkSteve Hallam reports that this year’s Autumn Fruits walk had two noteworthy characteristics. Firstly, it was blessed with the most glorious weather – wall to wall sunshine and windless. Secondly, this was one of those years in which the title should have been ‘Autumn fruits and flowers’.
Steve Hallam will lead a guided walk to seek out berries, soft fruit, nuts, seeds & fungi. All of these are now out in abundance. Dawn Chorus can reward an early startIt might be an early start but the Dawn Chorus can truly deliver its own reward. Once again Steve Hallam will be leading the Dawn Chorus Walk around Hillhouse Wood, offering the chance to see and/or hear nightingales and many other brilliant dawn choristers like the Blackcap (see right).
