Orpen Hall Roof Re-Tiling

Parts of the roof of Orpen Hall were repaired 10 years ago but other parts now need repair; unsurprising given they were laid in 1938!  Accordingly, M J Group Construction & Roofing under the supervision of Ingleton Wood Project Management, have been contracted to re-tile the oldest parts of the roof.

Enovert Community Trust are funding the work which starts on 1st February 2020; it is expected to take 12 weeks.  The first task is to erect scaffolding around the full perimeter of the Hall; unfortunately, this means that a small number of car parking spaces will be lost.

The Parish Council apologies for any slight inconvenience the works may temporarily cause but if you do have any queries please email: [email protected] or phone 07726 424419.

Mulled Wine to Keep the Bell Ringing

The Friends of St Mary’s invite you to join them for mulled wine, mince pies and refreshments at the Old Church.  Taking place between 12-2:30pm on Sunday 11th December the event is a social occasion to meet friends, chat and look at the decorated Christmas trees.   You could also become a member (or renew your membership) of the Friends of St Mary’s Old Church. All are welcome, no admission charge but donations gratefully received.  Any funds raised will go towards the urgently needed repairs discussed in a previous article on this site.

Christmas Cards

The friends are also selling packs of Christmas Cards featuring the Old Church in wintry scenes.  Costing £3.50 you can buy the cards from Scissorhands, the Pharmacy or directly from Teresa (241878) or Jane (240167).
