The chance of enjoying outdoor bowls again is, of course, in the hands of COVID-19 and government plans to restrict the virus. Woods Bowls Club, however, has cautiously put some dates forward in anticipation. The club is small but very friendly lawn bowls club that is open to all ages and abilities. The club consists of a mixture of male and female members with ages ranging from ‘Thirty-somethings’ to sprightly Nonagenarians! You are never too young or too old to play Lawn Bowls.
So, it’s 2021 & COVID-19
At time of writing, it will depend on what happens with COVID-19 and potential easing of the lockdown. This will determine what sort of season we might have. In 2020 we could play bowls with our own club members (whilst practising social distancing of course) but not against other clubs. All being well, the club will be open throughout the spring & summer months of April to September.
New To Bowls?
Most people find bowls an easy sport to start playing, the basic skills are not hard and it does not require any great physical strength or athletic ability. They are always on the lookout for new members!
Can I Try It out?
Of course! The club has pencilled in its’ open day for Saturday 8th May at 2pm; there is no charge, just bring yourself and some flat shoes. If the day is cancelled due to COVID-19 they will arrange a new date, just check the ‘News’ page on the website below.
If you are interested but can’t make the Open day, please call our club secretary, Peter Pushman, on 01206 863854 or go to our website and send a message. We look forward to seeing you soon!
