West Bergholt goes to the polls early!

Poll card & flyer for Neighbourhood Plan RefrendumWest Bergholt goes to the polls early!

The residents of West Bergholt will go to the polls on Thursday 19th September to decide to adopt their local Neighbourhood Plan.

So far the presence of the emerging Neighbourhood Plan has been used by the Planning Inspectorate in four planning appeals, preventing some 250 additional houses.  Chairman of the West Bergholt Neighbourhood Steering Group, Chris Stevenson, stated:

We are all fighting to protect West Bergholt from speculative development. We cannot say “no” to new housing, but we can limit the scale of development and say where we want it. This is what we have done in our plan. We ask residents to vote “yes” to ensure the Neighbourhood Plan is adopted.

The Neighbourhood Plan covers more than just housing, it also covers the village’s amenities, community safety, transport and the environment.  Read the entire plan on  westbergholt.net/neighbourhoodplan or on Colchester Borough Council’s website.  Hard copies are also available to read in local shops and pubs.
