Health and care staff are working hard to open as many centres as possible as supplies become available. Essex & Suffolk NHS now have five hospital vaccination hubs (including Colchester & Ipswich). Also more than 40 GP-led services and, from tomorrow, two new large vaccination centres. These are in Wickford & Ipswich with more opening shortly.

Among the first

Colchester Hospital was one of the first hospitals to begin vaccinating patients against coronavirus. Ipswich Hospital is now also administering the vaccine to people aged  80 and over and priority frontline health and care staff.

The first community pharmacy to give the vaccine locally has also opened. Calvalry Road Pharmacy in Colchester is delivering the jab by appointment through the national booking system.

Hospital hubs

Colchester Hospital and Ipswich Hospital are currently giving the COVID-19 vaccine to people considered the highest priority. They are operating from 8 am to 8 pm, seven days a week.

GP Vaccine services

Family doctors and other primary care staff are vaccinating their most vulnerable patients. There are now more than 40 GP-led services across the two counties. Please check their website to find your closest. Over-70’s requiring a vaccine can now contact Creffield Medical Group (West Bergholt Surgery) to book an appointment.

• The NHS will contact you when it’s your turn to have the vaccine. Please do not contact the NHS for a vaccination before then.
• Please act on your invite when it comes, and make sure you attend your appointments when you arrange them.
• Continue to abide by all the social distancing and hand hygiene guidance, which will still save lives.

Avoid Scams!

The COVID-19 vaccine will always be available free of charge. The NHS will never ask you to share bank details to confirm your identity or pay for a vaccine.
