Meeting on 16th September 2024 the Planning & Development Committee first reviewed actions from the previous meeting. The Committee then agreed updates to the Neighbourhood Plan and discussed a hearing on the Planning Appeal at Fairfields Farm.  They then discussed 3 applications, with minor observations only, in Colchester Road (2), & Lexden Road.

Planning & Development Committee – 17th June 2024

Meeting on 17th June 2024 the Planning & Development Committee reviewed some actions from the May minutes before considering planning applications. 

The committee then supported 3 applications (Colchester Road, Newbridge Hill & Garling Walk), objected to 2 (in Nayland Road and Queens Road) & commented on 2 (Lexden Road & Colchester Road).

Planning & Development Committee – 13th May 2024

Meeting on 13th May 2024 the Planning & Development Committee reviewed some actions from the April minutes before considering planning applications.  These actions related to CCC’s Call for Sites and an application being considered by the Planning Inspectorate.

The committee then supported 4 applications (Spring Lane, Fordham Rd., Orpen Close & Sackville Way), objected to 1 (in Cooks Hall Road) & had no comment on 2 (The Truman & Lexden Rd.).

It is the aim of the Parish Council to seek a high standard of design for all new developments and extensions in the Village.

The Parish Council will take into account the Village Design Statement, the West Bergholt Neighbourhood Plan, Government National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and CBC Planning Policies when commenting on individual applications.

Parish Councillors are developing an environment action plan using their professional skills and capabilities. This will help develop the village environmental care and management over the years ahead.  As implemented it will run in parallel with regular and planned maintenance activities.

The Queens Head, Lexden and Hall Road ponds all need appropriate management if they are to remain havens for wildlife and attractive features of our village.  The Queen’s Head pond had significant work completed two years ago; it included dredging and clearance of the banks.  More recently the council replaced the railings which were approaching end of life. Network Rail will be undertaking Track Geometry works starting tonight and then again on Wednesday night (30th).  Unusually, specific times are not given although they often start from 11 pm.

The closure is for safety reasons although access will be maintained for emergency services and pedestrians.

The alternative route is via Argents Lane, Spring Lane, Halstead Road, Halstead Road Roundabout, Chitts Hill and vice versa.
