Next Friday 16th December Vocal Zones Choir invite you to join them to celebrate Christmas. The event starts at 7:30pm in St Mary’s Church, New Church Road.
As well as the singing, there will also be wine and mince pies! Entry is free, there will be a raffle with some great prizes to be won.

St Mary’s December newsletter provides details of this years, advent trail and a Christmas message. It also, of course, has the usual listings of services (and they look forward to welcoming you for their Christmas Services in both the Old Church & St Mary’s), and contacts.
It’s that time of year, when we are bombarded with Christmas advertising, but one advert in particular has caught my attention, probably because it has generated the most complaints in 2021 so far, the Tesco’s advert.
It begins with a lady standing outside a Tesco’s store being asked, ‘Do you need a little help’ and she responds, ‘Don’t worry my love, this year, nothings stopping me.’ Queens ‘Don’t stop me now’ providing the soundtrack to the advert.

Mince Pies, Gifts, Parade & CarolsThe Methodist Church kicks off the Christmas period this weekend with two events:
Between 10-12 on Saturday 2nd December, the Church Hall doors will be open for coffee/tea and mince pies as you browse the stalls. You can start your christmas shop at stalls selling:

Join the Uniformed Organisations as they take part in a Gift & Parade service at the Methodist Church from 11am on Sunday 3rd December. All are welcome, particularly parents of youngsters in the uniformed groups. A chance for an early Christmas celebration, particularly aimed at the children/young people from the Uniformed Organisations. Come along and take the opportunity to sing some well known Carols.
Bowdidge Foundation’s Christmas FayreTaking place on 25th November between 10am – 4pm the Christmas Fayre promises food , gifts and festivities. The event is free to attend and will take place at 9 Firmin’s Court in aid of the Tom Bowdidge Foundation.

Happy time at ChristmasThe West Bergholt Methodist Church report that their Christmas celebration events certainly went well and provided a happy time for all involved.
20 groups before returning to the Methodist Church for the Candlelight Carol service on December 21.
Coffee and Craft Monday 22 DecemberThanks to all who supported and worked to make possible the above events and best wishes for the New Year.
A hardy band of carol singers were outside the Coop store from 18.00 to 19.30. They entertained shoppers and Coop staff with a range of popular carols. Thanks to the generosity of the shoppers, and the singers, the sum of £52 was raised for Action for Children. The hot drinks and mince pies enjoyed after the singing were most welcome.
The service by candlelight provided a very special Christmas celebration atmosphere with a mix of traditional carols and readings. Many of the congregation were also able to enjoy a chat with coffee and mince pies in the hall after the service.
Building on the events held in the summer this proved to be a popular morning for families. Twenty-four children, together with accompanying adults, enjoyed a range of Christmas crafts including make your own Nativity Scenes, Snow scene domes and flying reindeer complete with sleighs! There was also time to enjoy a chat and the drinks and cakes proved popular also. Encouraged by the response we will be looking to provide further Coffee and Craft mornings in the Easter school holidays – look out for our publicity nearer the time.

West Bergholt Methodist Church are holding a special “Christmas Coffee Morning”on Saturday November 30th from 10.00 to 12.00 in the Church Hall, Chapel Lane. Entrance is free and all are welcome.
Coffee, tea, biscuits and mince pies will be available. There will be a variety of stalls including Home made cakes and preserves, books, jigsaws, cards and christmas wrap, bric a brac, mystery parcels and novelty gifts.
There will also be a change in times for services on Sunday December 22 when there will be a Candlelight Carol service in the Methodist Church at 6.30pm, there will not be a service at 11.00am or 3.00pm.
On 16th December 2012 there wasn’t a seat or pew left in St. Mary’s Old Church. The annual Carol Service, which was organised jointly by West Bergholt Parish Church and the Friends of St. Mary’s Old Church, brought together well over two hundred people, many of whom had walked across the fields to the old church in the sunshine.
The service included contributions from the choir, led by Caroline Finlay accompanied by Mike Neish on the organ, with his assistant, Jon Smith manning the pump. Richard Chadborn and Michael Foster conducted the service.
