St Mary’s Update – 5th September 2018
St Mary’s Church update for 5th September provides listings of services and other events and news. This update includes Colchester Chamber Choir performing at St Peter’s, Boxted, Messy Church, Harvest Festival, Home Groups and more.
Music at St Peter’s
This Saturday, 8th September, at 6:30 pm the Colchester Chamber Choir will be at St Peter’s, Boxted, in aid of the tower repair fund. They will perform inspirational choral works from the 16th to 20th centuries under the direction of Roderick Earle. Tickets (£10 or free to under-16s), are available from [antibot mailto=”[email protected]”], by calling 01206 322098 or online at www.colchesterchamberchoir.org, and include a glass of wine and refreshments.
Messy Creation
Join us at 9:30 am on Sunday 9th September for informal worship, songs, stories and fun activities for all ages, followed by refreshments in the hall! This month’s theme is ‘Messy Creation’. All Welcome!
For those looking for a more traditional service, there will be Evening Prayer on Sunday 9th at 6:30 pm offering a quiet reflective service based on the Book of Common Prayers.
Harvest Festival
Decorating the church
We will be decorating the church for harvest on Sat 22 Sept from 9.45am. Last year many church and village organisations were happy to decorate one of the smaller windows. It would be lovely if we could repeat that experience.

Harvest Supper
Taking place on Saturday 22 September at 6pm, tickets are now on sale! Buffet supper and family-friendly entertainment!
Tickets are £7.50 adults & £2.50 children and are available from the church office or from Ronnie Seymour [antibot mailto=”[email protected]”].
Harvest Festival Service
Come and celebrate God’s goodness to us at our special family-friendly Harvest Service on Sunday 23rd September at 9.30 am. Donations of tinned and packets food welcomed to give to the Open Door project in Colchester town centre.
Home Groups – Autumn Term
Our Tuesday evening home group will be meeting again after the summer break at 8 pm on the following dates:

- 6th November,
- 20th November.

Ignite Youth Service
Taking place on Friday 5th October at 7.45 pm, Ignite is a lively, informal service put together by our Wired youth group and the youth group from Langham & Boxted churches. All welcome!
