With their main festival taking place between 16th September and 2nd October, the Roman River Summer Festival is an early taster. It is visiting West Bergholt in the form of an event at the Old Church starting at 11am on Saturday 9th July. Tim Ridout who last appeared at the Roman River Festival as part of the wonderful Celan quartet is now forging a solo and chamber music career. He will perform the following pieces on his viola:
- Patterson Tides of Mananan.
- Vieuxtemps Capriccio.
- Telemann Fantasia 10.
- Hefti Con Anima.
- Bach Cello Suite 4.
The festival recommends those attending to also take lunch at the Treble Tile, and a walk along part of the 82-mile Essex Way which passes by St Mary’s Old Church.
This is just one of several performances taking place this weekend with other events taking place at:
- Mistley on Friday 8th,
- Wivenhoe also on saturday 8th but in the evening, and then on
- Mersea on Sunday 10th.
You can find out more about these concerts, and the main festival, on their website.
