
Meeting on 17th February 2025, the Planning & Development Committee first agreed the minutes from the previous meeting. The committee then discussed CCC’s Preferred Option Strategy for the Local Plan. They also reviewed an application from a property in Bradbrook Cottages.

Minutes of the Planning and Development Committee Meeting
Held on Monday 17th February 2025 at 7.30pm in the John Lampon Hall
It is the aim of the Parish Council to seek a high standard of design for all new developments and extensions in the Village.
The Parish Council will take into account the West Bergholt Neighbourhood Plan, Government National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and CCC Planning Policies when commenting on individual applications.

4. CCC Preferred Option Strategy for Local Plan
The CCC’s Local Plan Meeting has been arranged for evening of 17th February 2025, and West Bergholt Parish Council planning committee has expressed their view that the proposed build of 250 houses in West Bergholt should be passed to a full Parish Council meeting for consideration. After the CCC Local Plan meeting on 17th February, points of clarification will be put to CCC and their response to the Parish Council at their meeting on 26th February 2025 to discuss.
5. Public participation and to receive any pre-application representations.
A member of the public asked if the Parish Council could control or mitigate Colchester City Council’s suggested number of houses to be built in West Bergholt. The member of the public was referred to the Planning Committee response of Item 4
6. Planning Applications, and Appeals:

Planning Application: Creating a dropped kerb to facilitate vehicular access to the property located at 31 Bradbrook Cottages. The works will include the removal of an existing section of the pavement and the lowering of the kerb along approximately 4.5 m
Comment: Having considered all the details of this application, the Parish Council has decided not to comment
