Freedom of Information (FoI)

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (which came into force in 2005) gives a general right of access to all types of ‘recorded’ information held by public authorities, it also sets out exemptions from that right. Under this legislation parish councils are obliged to:

• produce a publication scheme, and
• deal with individual requests for information.

The Parish Clerk will only hold information that is current or for normal Parish Council information, e.g. minutes etc which is less than 5 years old.
