Rose Cottage, The Avenue, West Bergholt Colchester CO6 3HD	Object	Decision	The proposed two storey carport appears out of proportion to the adjacent dwellings. This will create an unnecessary narrowing and urbanisation of The Avenue being opposite Rose Cottage. It would be more acceptable without a first floor. The design should be amended to lower the height of the car port to enable it to blend better with surrounding buildings and to prevent it becoming “overbearing”.

Note: where appropriate reference to the Village Design Statement (VDS) has been made in the above comments. The VDS has been adopted by the Parish Council and Colchester Borough Council.
