Environment & Highways – 9th February 2017

The Environment & Highways Sub-Committee of West Bergholt Parish Council met on 9th February and discussed a range of issues including flooding at Albany Close, Village Ponds, Handymen, Storage, dog signs, bollards & benches.

Clerks Report

  1. Hole in Poors field to be closed off
  2. Bollards at the entrance to the school remains on going.
  3. Ditch on Heath by New Church Road.  Clearing the ditch is unlikely to stop water running into the adjacent properties. Clearing of ditch will be carried out as and if required.  Item Closed

Village ponds

  1. Request for a second days’ work on Hall Road is with TCV. To email and request a date soonest.
  2. Roof of duck house on Queen’s Road pond needs checking.

Benches for LD field and Poors Land

Awaiting proposals and costing from Janet Crichton. Also, pricing for waders. Jan C

Allotments

Repair of allotment fencing – David has started this but he has a damaged foot and will complete fencing repair when he is mobile again, hopefully next week.

Handymen work

  1. Matt has cleared the hedge at the side of allotments along Chapel Rd. The ivy around the trees on Heath near School Lane has been cleared.
  2. Channels (Grips) into ditches along School Lane and NCR need clearing.
  3. “No dogs” signs to be put up on the MUGA fence.
  4. Fire doors in Orpen Hall need attention, Sink drains in kitchen need attention
  5. New ladder for use in the Orpen Hall will be determined by JGR. Possibly a new extendable ladder may be required.
  6. Litter picking is continuing. Laura has organised a litter warrior pick for next Saturday 10am.
  7. There is flooding occurring at end of Albany Close probably caused by a blocked drain.

Storage facilities

The brick enclosure in front of the OH is being filled with rubbish.  The future of the enclosure needs to be determined as the area is looking untidy
