Day 8 of Lockdown – The Recycling Again Edition

CSH Environmental TruckDay 8 of Lockdown

Day 8, one whole week under our belt, and a lot has happened.  Last week we heard about how recycling was going to be cut back, something the PC were not happy about.  Well, the PC has been in discussions with a local company and they are pleased to announce that you can recycle again starting from tomorrow, 1st April.  After this announcement, a little light relief in the form of a karaoke-style Tom Jones parody on COVID-19 to sing along to.

West Bergholt Recycling

CSH EnvironmentalCSH Environmental Ltd would like to offer a community waste collection service for the recyclable wastes.  You can mix paper, card, glass, tins and plastics in clear recycling bags.   This is not a kerbside collection but a pick up from selected locations.  If successful, the service will run every Wednesday, so please do your best to make it work.

There is no foolproof method of ensuring that this arrangement will run completely smoothly.  If you do want to bring your recycling to one of the 8 locations the Parish Council would advise that you follow these rules:

  • observe the 2m social distancing guidelines at all times.
  • do not bring large or bulky items, just that which you would have put out for the normal Council collections.
  • place all items in clear plastic bags and limit this to 2 mixed bags per household that you can comfortably lift and carry.
  • be prepared to queue with 2m spacing as you would outside a supermarket.
  • try to avoid driving unless absolutely necessary, if you must then please use the Orpen Hall car park site. What we want to avoid is a massive traffic jam in the village!

NO BLACK BAGS or GREEN/BUILDERS/ANIMAL WASTE

Dustcarts will park at the following locations in the village where residents can bring their bags to the vehicle.

  • 2.00 pm – Maltings Park Road.
  • 2.15 pm – Albany Road junction Chapel Road.
  • 2.30 pm – Mumford Road junction Chapel Road.
  • 2.45 pm – Valley Crescent junction Chapel Lane.
  • 3.00 pm – Queens Head Public House – car park.
  • 3.15 pm – Mumford Road junction Lexden Road.
  • 3.30 pm – Orpen Memorial Hall – car park.
  • 3.45 pm – Hall Road junction Old Church Lane.

(Times are approximate).

Due to the Covid-19 Crisis Social Distancing of 2m must be observed at all times.  Operatives will monitor the volumes & waste types and refuse anyone who they feel is abusing this temporary service.
