St Mary’s Booster Sessions
St Mary’s are running Booster sessions every Tuesday & Friday between 9:30 am – 2:30 pm. Nik, from the pharmacy, is leading these sessions with help from a steady band of volunteers to keep traffic flowing. Check on the NHS website to see availability although note that St Mary’s will only show up if there are slots available. If you want to take a chance, you could also pop along late in the session in case they have spare doses left over (often advertised on the Hub).
Transport for Vaccination
If you are struggling to attend a Covid vaccination appointment due to transport issues, the Essex Wellbeing Service is available to help. This transport is free of charge and can be used for first, second or booster dose appointments. If you, or somebody you know, needs this assistance, please email [email protected] or call 0300 303 9988. The phone line is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 7 pm and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturdays.
Carols by Candlelight Cancelled
Sadly the Friends & St Mary’s New Church have decided that they should, once again, cancel this annual event.
Initially they had thought it could go ahead but have now decided that they shouldn’t risk passing around Covid just in time to ruin everyone’s Christmas family gatherings. Sitting near each other for an hour, singing carols and talking (albeit wearing masks), just seemed a risk too far.
Normally at the Carol Service, the Friends ask everyone to renew their membership of the Friends of St Mary’s Old Church. If you have not yet done so for 2022, please download a copy of the form which gives information about how to do so. Friends of St. Mary’s Old Church membership is £5 per year per person. or donation.
Upcoming
The re-redecoration of the nave ceiling, which is peeling since the first redecoration in 2020, is scheduled to be done next March/April. All being well, the Friends hope to be hosting concerts and events as normal at the Old Church during the rest of the summer season.
